We were delighted to be entrusted with the restoration of this beautiful period property, providing the roof with a new lease of life while carefully preserving the character and charm that made the building so special.
The client's objective was to retain the traditional appearance of the property whilst improving its overall performance and energy efficiency. A handmade clay plain tile was selected to complement the character of the home, while a new breathable roofing membrane and upgraded loft insulation were incorporated to enhance the thermal performance of the building.
Although the main roof structure was found to be in good condition, further investigation revealed significant dry rot within the original fascia and decorative Tudor detailing to the front gable. Following discussions with the client, we were instructed to replace the affected timbers and carefully reinstate the details to match the original specification, including redecorating the fascia to maintain the property's traditional appearance.
This proved to be a particularly rewarding project, combining sympathetic restoration with modern performance improvements. The finished roof remains true to the character of the property whilst ensuring it is protected for many years to come, and the end result speaks for itself.
